Cerebral Palsy.

Ashton Smith was born healthy and happy. Six weeks later Ashton became sick overnight with RSV and pneumonia.

His blood oxygen levels had dropped from 100% to 0%, however doctors were able to get it back up to the normal rate. Sadly, due to the lack of oxygen to his brain he was then diagnosed with cerebral palsy.

Ashton received a stem cell infusion from his own cord blood and made an astounding recovery. He is now able to walk without his wheelchair and play lacrosse with his best friend, his older brother.

Juvenile Myelomonocytic Leukaemia (JMML).

Sometimes, not knowing is the hardest part. Ever since Devon Weaver entered the world as an infant, something just wasn’t right.

Finally, at the age of eight, a diagnosis emerged—Juvenile Myelomonocytic Leukemia—also known as JMML. News of the diagnosis brought a mixed bag. While it was a relief to know why Devon suffered, it is a cold, hard fact that the long-term survival rate of children with JMML is only 5-10%.

Devon has received a stem cell transplant and has made a full recovery.
